10 Spots in New West to Step Up Your Instagram Game

Sunday, June 17, 2018

That aren’t the W.

Downtown New West is the ultimate spot to hit up with your insta-hubby (or wifey) when you’re in the mood for posting a few pictures. Not only is it home to eclectic corners and courtyards, it’s the perfect mix of historic and modern.

Westminster Pier Park is an obvious choice for scenic and sunny pictures – but what about some places a little more off the beaten path?
Here are our top 10 favorite instagrammable spots:

1. Scotiabank Parkade, 728 Columbia St

Who doesn’t love an exposed brick wall? If you don’t live in a loft apartment, you’ll probably have to wander around to find one like this. Note: the older, the better.

2. Great Wall Tea Co, 810 Quayside Dr

Okay, so you might have to get chummy with the barista to get a selfie with this one, but it pays off beautifully!

3. Provincial Court of British Columbia, 651 Carnarvon St

If you’re not afraid of crawling around to capture the perfect "perspective shot" and want to impress your artsy friends, these stairs are begging for attention. Beware: running water!

Take your brick wall photos up a notch at this cute little spot on Front Street. This wooden swing seat in front of the exposed brick wall and golden fence makes it the perfect backdrop for insta! Grab a coffee and take a rest while having your BFF snap some pictures for you. Note: Fridays on Front begins Friday, July 6 to August 24!

We’re suckers for old and elaborate doors; they have character and make the perfect backdrop for the candid picture your insta is missing. Bonus: the church is a registered heritage building.

8. Brick and Mortar Living, 42 Sixth St

There’s no better place to take instagrammable pictures than this surreal overpass connecting the River Market and Columbia Street! Check this out during the night when the gorgeous lights are on; it is a spot you absolutely cannot miss out on.

10. Outside of the Wine Factory, 649 Front St

We couldn’t go through this post without at least getting a lofty look at the Fraser. After climbing the stairs you’ll be rewarded with a great view over the newly renovated Front Street and beyond. Take a stroll during the evening to see a glowing Front Street with the new string lights crossing up and down the street.
