Come celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary in Downtown New Westminster! 

With an abundance of family activities, live music and food, multicultural festivities, and the opportunity to learn about the continuously thriving Indigenous peoples and cultures that have resided here since time immemorial, the Original Downtown is where YOU should be to enjoy an exciting sesquicentennial celebration, and understand what it truly means to be Canadian!

1. Visit New Westminster Museums & Archives Gallery - Monday to Sunday, 10AM – 5PM

Drop by the New West Museum in the Anvil Centre and learn about the First Nations people who have lived on this land since time immemorial - uncover an important layer of meaning pertaining to the 150th anniversary of Canada as it can serve as a platform to change dialogues and recognize truths.

2. New West Multicultural Festival – July 1st, 2-10pm

Bask in the beauty of present-day Canada’s rich cultural diversity at Westminster Pier Park! Extra big for the 150th anniversary of Canada, be in awe of the diverse cultures that make up Canada today - dance and sing along with cultural performances by great artists from the Indigenous peoples of Canada, Japan, China, Philippines, Sudan, Ireland, Kenya, Greece, Romania … plus many more!

3. Fireworks – July 1st, 10pm

Dazzle your senses with a grandiose display of fireworks that will light up the skies to celebrate a special 150th Canada Day at the New Westminster Quay! Hosted by the New West Hyack Festival Association, bring your family and friends to soak in the spectacular energy of an evening of stunning fireworks!

4. New West Craft Summer Night Market – July 15th, 6-9:30pm

Gorgeous vintage jewellery, natural soy candles … are just some of the unique handmade goodies featured at the New West Craft Summer Night Market! Celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial anniversary by strolling along the beautiful boardwalk at New West Quay and explore over 60 vendors for a night of shopping, food, live entertainment, and more!

5. Columbia StrEAT Food Festival – July 29th, 4-10pm

What better way to celebrate Canada’s BIGGEST anniversary yet than going to the LARGEST Food Truck Fest in Canada?! The Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest has over 90 food trucks, live entertainment, beer gardens, and unique local shopping experiences! #Canada150 #MadeinDowntownNewWest #GetTruckedUp
