New West Pride in Downtown New West
The New West Pride Society has been working hard to make this year's upcoming Pride festival the best yet! Festivities aim to celebrate equality within the community, and will be running across the city from August 12th to 19th. Put up your rainbow flag to show your support, and read on to learn how you can participate right here in Downtown New West!
Saturday, Aug 12th: Kick off Pride Week by dancing (and eating) the night away aboard the MV Native Paddlewheeler!
Sunday, Aug 13th: Swing by the Heritage Grill on Sunday night for an experience you won’t forget with Mz Adrien’s drag show!
Tuesday, August 15th: Grab a picnic blanket and bring the whole family down to Westminster Pier Park for a laid-back evening of fun in the sun- Pride style!
Wednesday, August 16th: The Health Initiative for Men presents an educational workshop, “Getting Kinky with HiM”, at the Anvil Center. Also, Judge Begbie’s Tavern will be holding a Rainbow Trivia contest featuring awesome cash prizes with trivia legend DJ Storm!
Thursday, August 17th: Karaoke with riverfront views, kicking off at 7pm at the Paddlewheeler Pub; come by and sing your heart out for pride week!
Friday, August 18th: First, come swing by Fridays on Front at 5pm for some fresh air, food and good vibes. For the after party, make your way up the street to Judge Begbie’s Tavern for a Rainbow Beer Bash, the perfect place to meet new people!
Saturday, August 19th: The New West Pride Columbia Street Party is a must-attend on your Pride bucketlist! The free event runs from 3-8pm, featuring food, beer gardens, vendors, live entertainment and more for an action packed day embracing the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Put on your brightest colours and head down to Columbia Street to join the festivities! The fun doesn’t end there; after parties will be happening immediately following the event at The Met (featuring rainbow jell-o shots), Heritage Grill with awesome live music, and a Vegas style drag show at The Columbia!
