El Santo, Longtail Kitchen and Freebird Chicken are all winners at this year's Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards.
They were honoured just to be nominated but they're really forging a serious foodie scene here, and we couldn't more happy that they've chosen our neighbourhood to make a name for themselves. The Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards celebrate the hottest new rooms, the top chefs and most creative menus in the city. We are so proud to be represented well here in Downtown New West. Big congratulations to all three!
Better make a reservation now! Vancouver Magazine cited their hibiscus and jicama enchiladas and serious bar program as being what convinced them, our favourites are their tacos and Sopa Azteca. They tied with La Mezcaleria from Vancouver for this top spot.
Chef Angus An almost swept this category. Last year’s Restaurant of the Year continues to impress the judges with Maenam winning gold here. And of course his more casual Longtail Kitchen at River Market came in a close second, likely because of their amazing chicken wings, pad thai and soups that make any day better.
Another Chef Angus An owned River Market eatery, Freebird may focus only on one thing (Asian-style rotisserie chicken), but they do it to perfection. And they're expanding to a larger location, to be opened shortly just across from the original one.
