New Year, New Workout, New You

Friday, January 19, 2018

Now that January is in full swing, many of you may have made a resolution, set an intention or simply just promised yourself that you would move more, eat clean and feel better in 2018.

Feeling energized, healthy and happy is easier than you think! Allow me to introduce myself - my name is Sidney Shindle and I am a holistic nutritionist, private chef, baker and former national level synchronized swimming coach! I am also the owner of Veritas Wellness, a nutrition and wellness consulting company right here in Downtown New West.

Over the next few weeks I am going to share some of the most convenient and effective ways to help you feel your best in 2018, all here in beautiful New Westminster. Whether you’re a long-time wellness guru or someone looking to make a few changes, these posts are meant to help guide you wherever you may be on your path to wellness.

Wellness Tip #1- Take a minute to check in with your body.

Before diving into 2018, take some time to listen to your body. Most of us tend to forget to do this! The best way to do this is by lying down and breathing. When you sit still you can pick up on signs that you may not have noticed during your busy workday or jam-packed weekend. You may notice you’re hungry, full, shaky, sore or just plain tired.

If breathing in itself is a tough one, it might a good idea to start with some yoga or gentle movement classes. This type of work is an excellent way to get you back in tune with your body all while breathing deeply and giving your body a good stretch. Lucky for us, Downtown New West has two yoga studios for you to choose from. If you’re not into yoga or you’re looking for a new challenge, here is a list of studios, gyms and fitness centers to try in 2018.
