New West Tech & Biz Meetup
API and Platform Success = A Vibrant Developer Community
Schedule:
6:45-7:00 Networking
7:00-8:30 Presentation, Q&A, Networking
Open APIs, platforms, SDKs, HDKs – no matter what the technology is, the key to driving success with these tools is by treating them as products and building a healthy and vibrant developer community around them.
Two experts in the field of Developer Relations will share an overview of the two types of developer programs, the components for setting them up and onboarding developers, some best (and worst) practices, and how to monitor if your APIs are really working.
Caroline Lewko, CEO of WIP based in Vancouver, started the first Developer Relations agency and has been helping companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung, NBC Universal, AT&T, PayPal, Facebook, Zebra and many others for over 12 years. She is actively involved with all things mobile including 5G as well as XR, VR and AR; IoT, IIOT and Smart Cities; AI and Machine learning, robotics, computer vision and blockchain.
Caroline will be joined by David O’Neill, founder of APImetrics, based in Seattle, which provides real time API quality data to government agencies, banks and technology companies all over the world. Building on a database over 8 billion data points, gathered from millions of API calls, APImetrics provides a Credit Score for APIs to show clients how well they perform against industry wide benchmarks. We specialize in telling our customers why their users are unhappy but their internal engineering teams think nothing is wrong…
They have collaborated on a number of projects including the ill-fated OneAPI. More on that at the meetup!
