A few years ago, “Doing it for the ‘gram” was all the rage, suggesting that social media users visit places for quality photos to post on their Instagram feeds. It can be lovely to wander a city–your home or otherwise, but isn’t it more fun to capture those moments as memories?
If you’re curious about the Instagram-worthy or TikTokable spots in New West, this blog is for you.

Are you a wanderer? Take a stroll down Front Street to find some brick walls that work perfectly for portraits (you can finally update that old profile picture)!

Filter fan? Check out the ‘You Are Home’ mural off Columbia & McKenzie Street. When you scan the code on the plaque in Snapchat, the mural comes alive! You’ll also love the three-sided ‘We Are One’ mural only a few blocks away. The colours stand out on the large lettering along Columbia, McKenzie and Front Street – get someone to take a picture of you with your favourite side!
Food fanatic? Foodies love New West for its easy access to delicious and beautiful food. Try Hive Cafe for a beautiful coffee shop atmosphere, or hit up Old Crow Coffee for cute logo-embellished cups and exposed brick walls. Columbia Street Sandwich Co. is also known for photo-ready sammies. You might also get a kick out of an arrangement from a local flower shop (hint: hold your flowers up to a brick wall and get a classic New West aesthetic).

Photographer extraordinaire? New West is chock full of cool windows, bright signage and interesting architecture. Make it your challenge to take photos from a new angle! Change your perspective by getting closer to the ground, shooting from above or focusing on details. Some people have taken photos of the bridge through the chain link fence down at Pier Park. Whether you prefer urban, suburban or natural scenes for your feed, New West has something for you.
