Need inspiration for your next date that won’t break the bank? Looking for something quick, easy, and free to do around town? Grab your bae or your best friend and try out one of these easy, free date ideas in Downtown New West!

Chill outside at Pier Park; there’s always something fun to do. Borrow a volleyball, soccer ball or basketball from the concession (or maybe a beach umbrella if you’re looking to hang out in the shade). Looking for something a little more romantic? Leave a love lock on the fence near the pier or spend an evening getting cozy with bae on the hammocks and watch the sunset over the Fraser.
Take advantage of all the free festivals and events! Come down to the pier on Wednesday nights in July and August to enjoy yoga on the pier with the Lila Summer Series.

Lounge by the river while enjoying local beats every Tuesday and Thursday evening in July during Music by the River, or enjoy a 19+ movie night on July 26th. If you’re feeling a little thirsty, both these events are fully licensed (the concession stand will be serving up beer from Steel & Oak, Another Beer co. and wine from Pacific Breeze winery.)
Fridays on Front is back this summer until August 23rd. Stroll throughout the event with your favourite beverage, enjoying live music, unique shopping, a riverfront breeze and scenic views. It gets even better, admission is FREE! If you two are big foodies, come and visit the largest food truck festival in North America on July 27 at Columbia StrEAT.
