YES! The 6th Annual Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest is just around the corner! If you’re like us, you are dying to try out a bazillion dishes. Here are some quick tips to help you make the most of the awesome day in Metro Vancouver's newest culinary hotspot, Downtown New West!
1. Take Transit/Skytrain:
Seasoned attendees know that this festival draws a gigantic crowd. That means it’ll be more than New Westers checking out Columbia Street on the 28th. With parking a gong show, try to save yourself a headache by taking public transit - Evo Car Share or parking your bikes at The Bicycle Valet on 8th Street. Columbia Station is located in the MIDDLE of the event, and New West Station at the very start of it, allowing you to hop on and off without losing your sleepy post-food happy place.
2. Put your feet up:
Check out the 6 seated beer gardens for a breather from standing --- your food baby belly will thank you. And you’ll get your second wind! There are also several seating areas thoughout the event brought to you by FreshPrep, Skyllen Pacific, Westminster Savings and Evo Car Share.
3. Dispose of your leftovers properly:
There are a lot of foodies trying as many dishes as they have room for. That means LOTS of plates/cutlery/food scraps at the end of the night. Show mother nature some love and clean up after yourself using several waste stations you'll see throughout the street, manned by volunteers so that you can help us become a zero waste event!
4. Stay hydrated:
In the middle of summer it’ll mostly likely be hot. Pair that with a long afternoon from 4-10, it’s important to stay hydrated while you’re trying to complete the food marathon of your dreams.
5. Wear something comfortable:
Hot weather and 80+ food trucks doesn’t sound very skinny jean friendly. Time to break out the stretchy pants!
6. Taste everything:
There are dozens of trucks all in one place, so this is your chance to try everything. Download the event map and dive in!
It's time to get #GETTRUCKEDUP!
