Are you an urban darling? Visit Front Street on a quiet mid-week evening for soft lighting and industrial modernity. You’ll find brick storefronts framed by hanging flower pots, and views of the Fraser River juxtaposed against train tracks. At golden hour, this will make for stunning shots full of colour and depth.

For a more classic look, capture romantic images under the trees at Tipperary Park. The unbeknownst passerby may doubt the effectiveness of sunlight spotting through the leaves, but good photographers know that diffused lighting will give your photos a soft glow and an intimacy unmatched.

Would you rather an industrial backdrop? Try out the top of the parkade at Front Street and 4th Avenue. Look for the large faded letters that say, “Columbia Famous Players Theatre.” It doesn’t sound like much, but the faded vintage background will give your photos an oldies feel. Keep it fun with your formal wear and you’ll have some timeless images to frame in your home!

If you’re a fan of the windblown look, take photos on a local ferry or pier. This may be a bit harder to schedule, but the result is worth the effort. Catch the wind in your hair or your dress, and let it carry the fabric. This will give your photos a touch of whimsy and movement, both of which are often lacking in posed photos.

No matter the location you choose, a good photographer will make sure your love shines through any image. If you are looking for the perfect venue to book a safe and small wedding this year, take a look at Anvil Centre and Inn at the Quay. Your wedding isn’t far off in the grand scheme of things, but you can capture moments while you wait!
