Batik and Beer Workshop

Come on down to Steel and Oak brewery for some beers and design, draw and create your own Batik art piece with a workshop hosted by The Batik Library. Based in Vancouver, The Batik Library are on a mission to connect their local community to the batik technique and share the place it holds in Indonesian culture. The Batik Library will be leading a guided workshop that will introduce you to the batik artform and technique. Batik is a resist wax dyeing technique. You will learn how to use the canting tool and hot wax to produce your own unique design on a blank piece of fabric. Ticket prices are $55.52, see EventBrite page for more information. Workshop Structure: - Batik method introduction - Hand drawing & stamping method practice - Trace a pattern / free hand drawing - Create a take-home art piece - The Batik Library will dye your piece off site and the completed piece will be available for collection at S&O Included in your ticket will be: - One free beer - All the materials necessary to produce your art piece - Guidance from a Batik expert - A fun and meditative experience - At Steel and Oak our aim is to create an inclusive space for all that celebrates our local community.
