Canada Day is fast approaching – that means a day full of festivities, food, entertainment and, of course, fireworks! (cover image by Corey Rollins)
There will be celebrations happening all over Vancouver, but if the crowds aren’t for you, Downtown New West will be hosting a myriad of their own festivities. Grab your friends, your dogs and your fam to spend the day checking out all the action on this list.
Hosted on Pier Park, alongside the Fraser River, the Multicultural Festival gives participants the opportunity to experience different cultures without leaving Canada. There will be live music, food, drink, vendors and live dance performances such as Zumba and Bazaar, making this a family friendly event!
During the day, the market will host the New West Craft Market with a number of artisan vendors, in addition to a number of activities along the board walk. Catch the Vancouver Circus School performing at the Quay + all the shops of River Market will also be open later. If you are looking for the best seats in the house for the fireworks at night, the River Market is the perfect spot to watch!
Finally, the highlight of Canada Day… FIREWORKS! They will start at 10pm along the Fraser River, so make sure to stake out a spot early. This year they'll have an MC, a countdown to the fireworks, and entertainment until 11pm. The Hyack is also hosting a contest – send in your best photo of the fireworks in order to win a year membership, having your picture published and admiration from everyone!
Have a Happy Canada Day!
