From Home Kitchen to a Second Location in Downtown New West
Cake It Easy's story began in August 2020, during the pandemic, when a 13-year-old with a love for baking decided to sell macarons through Instagram. The orders started to increase and, to follow the health authority regulations, her mom, Diana Silva — owner of Cake It Easy — decided to pursue a formal pastry training and find a commercial kitchen, ensuring that Cake It Easy could continue to grow as a family-owned business.
Fast forward four years, the boutique cake and dessert shop now has two locations, one in Vancouver and the newest store recently opened in Downtown New West. Cake It Easy stands as a testament to following your dreams and turning challenges into opportunities for growth.

Overcoming Challenges with Determination
Running a business is never without its hurdles. For Cake It Easy, one of the toughest challenges initially was handling negative reviews. Despite putting immense effort into their creations and services, not everyone’s preferences align. But Diana learned to take it in stride and not forget the vision she and her family had for this special business they were building.
“It’s all preference—people can have their opinion, but it doesn’t mean your products are bad. It just means it’s not their ‘cup of tea.”
Why Expand to Downtown New West?
Originally, Cake It Easy chose New Westminster for its central location, making it more accessible to customers in the Fraser Valley. However, since opening, Diana and her team have discovered something even more special—the warmth of the community.
“New West is one of the most welcoming cities in the Lower Mainland. Everyone is so friendly, and our neighbors are the sweetest!”
A Taste of Childhood: Filipino-Inspired Desserts
The family business is known for its unique Filipino-inspired desserts, many of which are rooted in Diana’s childhood memories. If you want to taste the many ube creations and other delicious Filipino flavours in the comfort of your home, there’s exciting news for you! Cake It Easy is now available on Uber Eats, to satisfy your sweet tooth with just a few taps on your phone.
